This bridge Kit has been constructed using these measurements
The total length is 516 mm
The total width is 200 mm
You will receive in the kit all the parts required to complete this NSWGR Pedestrian Foot Bridge.
It will be supplied with either the Wrought Iron Railings Model M00183 or the Wire Mesh type fencing
used though to the 80’s, M00188.
It covers two island platforms and two outside single tracks and has a 15 mm cap, between the single track
and the outer bridge support.
My platform width for an island platform is 126 mm. Distance between my platforms is 92 mm.
That give you a 50 mm centre to centre for you dual track. I use 36 mm of 3 mm cork to lay my
track on and allow 3mm to the edge of the platform. This works really well for clearance.
I have allowed the same distance for the single track and then another 15mm of clearance before the
end bridge supports. Overall length required is 516mm.
The bridge spans are the two out side one’s are 149mm long and the centre span is 218mm long.
The spans join in the centre of the middle supports.
I have used 21 mm has the height of the platform, this with the 3mm cork and the height of the track
gives me a realistic height.
The height from top of platform to bottom of bridge is 61mm
The height from top of rail to the bottom of bridge is 74mm.
NSWGR standard June 2014
Catenary Conductor height
Open Route 4.75 mtrs
Low Bridges ect 4.65 mtrs
Absolute Minimum 4.57 mtrs
Maximum Height 5.8 mtrs this represents 66.7 mm in HO scale.
So with that in mind you now have 7.1 mm of clearance to put in your catenary to run at maximum height.
So the rivet counters should be happy.
The NSWG Transport for NSW Technical Note states that the maximum height for a catenary post is 9.2 mtrs at support.
That equals 105.7 mm.
The props in the pictures are not supplied with the kits.
Loco’s wagons, passenger cars, model cars and figures and the platforms are props.
